Press Review: Concept Korea V
[By Style-ology Magazine Fashion Correspondent Kim Green / Kim Gee PR]
For the fifth time, Korea’s leading fashion designers brought their unique artistic visions to the Stage at Lincoln Center. Five designers were selected by Concept Korea to represent the republic of Korea in the development of global fashion content and assist Korean Designers in their attempts to break into overseas fashion markets. The selected designers for the Fall/Winter 2012 season were:
*Lie Sang Bong (www.liesangbong.com) Showing the perfect pairing of architectural silhouettes with the feminine form
*DO HO (www.doho.co.kr) Embodies women as the “heroine”; seductive liberalism aiming high to bring life and art together
*Lee Juyoung / Resurrection (www.resurrectionbyjuyoung.com) Menswear known for edgy collections rich in ornate detail
*Son Jung Wan (www.sonjungwan.co.kr) Women designs defining what is modern, romantic, luxurious, elegant and chic
*Steve J & Yoni P (www.stevejandyonip.com) Chaotic harmony of bold color and design
As part of this season’s event, the designers have also opened up local showrooms to display their works until June 2012. The number of showrooms has expanded from last year to give ample space to each team, and the duration of the displays has been extended to give more people the opportunity to interact with Korean fashion.
This year overall theme was “Ink Wash Painting” (a type of East Asian brush painting which cannot be changed or erased), and the designers expressed the spirit of this technical and demanding art form.
